Lions land McCallum

The B.C. Lions announced today that non-import kicker Paul McCallum has signed with the club. Terms of the deal were not released.

This marks a return to the Lions for the Surrey-native as McCallum had two previous stints with the Leos during the 1993 and 1994 seasons. The 13-year veteran had spent the last 12 seasons with Saskatchewan before becoming a free agent in 2006. Now entering his 14th CFL season, McCallum has appeared in 180 regular season games including all 18 games in 2005.

McCallum was good on 31of 42 field goal attempts during the 2005 campaign while finishing fourth in scoring with 144 points. He also averaged 53.9 yards on 84 kickoffs and 40.4 yards on 111 punts.

“The addition of Paul definitely helps us address some concerns that we've had, and I believe his experience will add strength to our special teams,&rdquo said Lions general manager and head coach, Wally Buono.
