Als Receivers grab player of the week honours

Jamel Richardson, Milton Collins, Sandro DeAngelis, and Ben Cahoon were named the CFL’s top players for week #16, the Canadian Football League announced today.
Players of the Week are selected for on-field excellence by members of the Canadian football broadcasters.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

R – Jamel Richardson
Hamilton Tiger-Cats 11 @ Montreal Alouettes 42
Highlights / Key Stats:

Jamel Richardson had 12 receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns in the Montreal Alouettes home victory over the visiting Tiger-Cats. Richardson has become a favourite target of quarterback Anthony Calvillo. Over the last five games, the two have connected on 48 receptions for 626 yards and eight touchdowns. His three touchdown performance against the Ticats tied a CFL season high and vaulted him into first place on the league touchdown list with 13.

Jamel Richardson has caught 84 passes for 1,138 yards and 13 touchdowns this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DB – Milton Collins – Calgary Stampeders
Saskatchewan Roughriders 5 @ Calgary Stampeders 42
Highlights / Key Stats:

Milton Collins had three tackles, one sack and two interceptions in the Stampeders win over the Roughriders. Collins was a key part of the defence that shut down the Roughriders offence and forced quarterback Michael Bishop into throwing three interceptions. Collins gained 40 yards off the two interceptions and the Stampeders capitalized with long touchdown passes on both ensuing possessions.

Milton Collins has seven tackles, one sack, two interceptions and a fumble recovery in seven games this season.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

K – Sandro DeAngelis – Calgary Stampeders

Highlights / Key Stats:

Sandro DeAngelis was 4 for 5 on field goal attempts and 5 for 5 on convert attempts in the Stampeders victory. DeAngelis connected on field goals of 9, 16, 43 and 43 yards.  He also tallied two singles for a total of 19 points.

Sandro DeAngelis leads the CFL with 196 kicking points and is second in the league with an 86.8% field goal percentage. He has made all 48 convert attempts and 46 of 53 field goal attempts.

CANADIAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SB – Ben Cahoon – Montreal Alouettes

Highlights / Key Stats:

Ben Cahoon caught 13 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown in the Montreal Alouettes victory. His 13 receptions were a CFL season high and the 164 yards were a personal season high.

Ben Cahoon has caught a league leading 93 passes for 1,100 yards and seven touchdowns this season. He now has seven straight seasons with 1,000 receiving yards and at least 70 receptions.
