MISSISSAUGA — The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is thrilled to welcome back all-star CB Jordan Younger. Younger first joined the team as a free agent in 2004.
Argonauts GM/Vice President, Football Operations, Adam Rita remarked, “We are excited to have Jordan back as an Argo. He brings valuable experience and leadership to our young secondary. He has been an all-star for us and we expect him to play at that level in 2009.”
An Argos fan-favourite, Younger was crowned a Grey Cup champion in his first year with the team. In four seasons with the club, he was named a CFL All-Star twice and an East Division All-Star three-times. Younger solidified arguably the toughest position in the league’s best defence, making 189 defensive tackles, 40 pass knock downs and 11 interceptions. His blinding speed and keen instincts also make him a special teams coverage threat who has been known to track down even the fastest returner.
Commented Younger, “I feel like I’m coming home. Being away from Toronto was difficult because of the relationships I built on and off the field. It was difficult watching my friends play and not being out there with them. I missed the Toronto fans a lot and I am looking forward to seeing all of the familiar faces when I get back.”
The Argonauts traded Younger to the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for RB Tyler Ebell and WR TJ Acree on February 15, 2008. While in Edmonton, Younger recorded 52 tackles, 8 pass knock downs and 1 interception in 16 regular season and two playoff games.
