Toronto, ON – (October 14, 2009) – Adarius Bowman, Jerald Brown, Jovon Johnson and Mike McCullough were named the Gibson’s Finest CFL Players of the Week for week 15, the Canadian Football League announced today.

The four players were chosen by a panel of judges that includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Gibson’s Finest CFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WR – Adarius Bowman – Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Highlights / Key Stats:

Adarius Bowman had one of the most impressive outings for a receiver this season in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this weekend.

Bowman caught 10 passes for a total of 213 yards and two touchdowns in the Bombers’ big win over their East division rival. In the first half alone, where the Bombers’ stretched their lead to 21-0, Bowman collected 180 yards and two touchdowns on just seven receptions.

This is the first time a receiver has reached the 200-yard mark in a single game dating back to 2007 when Derick Armstrong compiled 205 yards for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Gibson’s Finest CFL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DB – Jerald Brown – Montreal Alouettes

Highlights / Key Stats:

Jerald Brown had a strong game for the Alouettes’ defence in their victory over the defending Grey Cup champion Calgary Stampeders’ this weekend.

Brown had four tackles and two interceptions in the game, as he helped lead the Alouettes’ secondary in keeping the Stamps’ receivers in-check for the majority of the game.

Brown’s first interception came on the Stamps’ first play of the game, which led to a punt single by Damon Duval, and his second interception led to a 12-yard field goal from Duval in the fourth quarter.

Brown is now tied for second place in the league with four interceptions this season.

Gibson’s Finest CFL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

KR/CB – Jovon Johnson – Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Highlights / Key Stats:

Jovon Johnson continued his stellar play this week which has helped the Winnipeg Blue Bombers win three games in a row. This weekend against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Johnson returned three kickoffs for a total of 115 yards, an impressive 38.3 yard average.

He also had eight punt returns for 69 yards (8.6 avg), helping give the Bombers’ offence excellent field position to work from. Johnson also had one special teams tackle and one pass knockdown in the victory.

This is the second consecutive week that Johnson has won the Gibson’s Finest CFL Special Teams Player of the Week award.

Highlights / Key Stats:

Mike McCullough had a great game for the Roughriders in their victory over the Toronto Argonauts this weekend.  The Ontario native collected eight tackles in the win, leading a strong Riders’ defence that harassed the Argonauts’ quarterbacks all game.
