By the Numbers: Grey Cup Glory

CFL.ca Staff

TORONTO — Anthony Calvillo capped off another impressive season by leading the Montreal Alouettes to the franchises’ first ever back-to-back Grey Cup Championships with a 21-18 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In 2010, Calvillo battled through injuries and health concerns en route to capturing his third Grey Cup ring in eight attempts.

Since the Edmonton Eskimos won five consecutive Grey Cups from 1978 to 1982, no other team has won three straight league championships. With the 2011 season looming on the horizon, if any man has the ability to accomplish this feat it is surely Calvillo.

When championship aspirations hang in the balance, the difference between winning and losing is often decided by a team’s leader stepping up and making big plays in the clutch. To honour the efforts of Calvillo and the rest of the Alouettes CFL.ca presents Grey Cup Glory, By the Numbers.
