EDMONTON — Canadian wide receiver Chris Bauman wasn’t out of a job for long.

He signed with the Edmonton Eskimos on Monday, less than a week after he was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Bauman, 26, played in 18 games for the Ticats last season. He recorded 298 receiving yards, 17 receptions and three touchdowns. He also had five catches and a team-leading 108 yards in a loss to Toronto in the CFL East Division semifinal.

“We’re very pleased to have Chris as an Eskimo,” general manager Eric Tillman said in a release. “He’s still in the formative stages of his career, but we certainly believe he is a young man with significant upside.”

Bauman, a native of Brandon, Man., spent four seasons with Hamilton. The Ticats selected him with the first overall pick of the 2007 CFL Canadian draft.
