CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders signed free-agent import defensive back Geoff Tisdale on Wednesday.
He led the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season with four interceptions and eight pass knockdowns.
The six-foot-one, 185-pounder also had 58 tackles and one recovered fumble. Tisdale added an interception, two tackles and a special-teams tackle in the East Division semifinal against Toronto.
“I’m excited to add Geoff to our team,” Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel said in a release. “He’s a young, fast playmaker who has 11 interceptions and has demonstrated excellent man-to-man coverage skills over his three seasons in the Canadian Football League.”
Tisdale, 24, recorded 128 defensive tackles, including three tackles for loss, 11 interceptions, 24 pass knockdowns and two fumble recoveries in three seasons with Hamilton.
“I’m excited about this opportunity to join the Stampeders,” said Tisdale. “From what I’ve heard, this is a great organization and a great city to live in and I’m looking forward to having an opportunity to reach my goals and compete for a Grey Cup here in Calgary.”
