Veteran LB Lloyd let go by Esks

The Edmonton Eskimos released veteran import middle linebacker Maurice Lloyd today. 

Lloyd started 17 games at middle linebacker last season, recording 82 tackles, five sacks, a team-leading six tackles for losses and one interception. Lloyd’s six tackles and two sacks vs. Saskatchewan on July 17 earned him CFL Defensive Player of the Week honours.  In 2009, his first season with Edmonton, Lloyd started 15 games, recorded 55 tackles and was named a CFLPA All-Star. 

The former Connecticut standout spent his first three CFL seasons (2006-2009) with Saskatchewan.  Lloyd signed as a free agent with Edmonton February 16, 2009
