CALGARY — Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel announced Tuesday that non-import defensive lineman Ameet Pall has signed with the team. As per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Pall was the Stampeders’ top selection in the 2012 CFL Draft on May 3 when he was taken with Calgary’s fifth-overall selection.

“It’s great to have Ameet signed and we can now focus on bringing the young man to training camp,” said Hufnagel. “We have been impressed with his work ethic and believe Ameet will work hard to earn a spot on this football club.”

Pall spent four seasons (2008-11) with the Wofford College Terriers. In 2011, he played 11 games at Wofford and recorded 29 tackles, including seven tackles for loss, two sacks ands one fumble recovery. Pall was on the pre-season watch for the 2011 Buck Buchanan Award.

He was also a pre-season All-American by the Sports Network and Phil Steele and was the Southern Conference preseason defensive player of the year.

Prior to college, Pall spent two seasons as captain of Vanier College’s football team in Montreal. Pall was named MVP of the Bol d’Or – the championship game of CEGEP football – in 2006 and 2007.

“I’m thrilled to sign my first professional contract,” said Pall. “The hard work now begins and I look forward to the start of training camp in early June.”
