WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice confirmed on Sunday that Alex Brink will start Wednesday against the Argonauts in Toronto.

As for the man Brink is replacing, Buck Pierce, there is no immediate word from the club as to how long he will be out.

“He’ll be out this week, we’ll have better information in the next day or so for how long,” LaPolice told the media following the team’s Sunday practice.

Despite taking a huge hit where his head hit the Commonwealth Field turf in relief of Pierce, Brink said he will be ready to take on the Argonauts even after a short week.

“I’ll be ready for Wednesday’s game,” Brink said on Saturday. “I don’t have a headache, I have full memory of everything that happened, and there really are no issues. I trust the doctors and our trainers,” he added.

Friday’s game was the second in three weeks where Pierce exited early with an injury.  He has thrown for 327 yards this season, completing 24 of 40 passing attempts. He’s scored a touchdown and has been intercepted three times. Pierce has also rushed eight times for 41 yards.

Brink has thrown for 253 yards in 2012, completing 25 of 48 passes with two TDs and two interceptions.

He’s rushed for 28 yards on six carries, scoring one touchdown.
