TORONTO — Hugh Charles, Shea Emry and Grant Shaw were named the Gibson’s Finest CFL Players of the Week for Week 16, the Canadian Football League announced today.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges that includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
Edmonton Eskimos running back Hugh Charles earns his first Offensive Player of the Week honours of the 2012 season following his career performance on Saturday afternoon.
Charles registered a career-high 152 rushing yards and one touchdown on 17 carries, and also added nine yards on one reception in the Esks’ 37-20 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The 26-year-old ran for an impressive 119 yards in the second half alone, helping the Esks to a crucial win in their hunt for a spot in the 100th Grey Cup Playoffs.
Montreal Alouettes linebacker Shea Emry earns both Defensive and Canadian Player of the Week honours following his standout outing in the Als’ Week 16 win on Sunday.
The Richmond B.C. native racked up four tackles, one sack and one interception that he returned 46 yards for a touchdown, leading Montreal a 24-12 road win over the Toronto Argonauts.
Emry now leads Montreal in both tackles (77) and sacks (7), which places him fourth in the league in both categories.
The Special Teams Player of the Week is Edmonton kicker Grant Shaw.
Shaw connected on three of his four field goal attempts, and tacked on four extra points in the Esks’ seventh win of the season.
Shaw’s 13-point effort was good enough to give him his second Player of the Week award of the 2012 campaign.
