TORONTO — The Edmonton Eskimos will be without one of their most dangerous defensive weapons for today’s Eastern Semi-Final.
Just moments before kickoff, the Esks confirmed that middle linebacker JC Sherritt will not be in the lineup due to a nagging ankle injury that he suffered on the second-to-last play of Edmonton’s season finale vs. the Stampeders.
Rookie linebacker Simoni Lawrence will start in his place.
Sherritt, 24, finished the 2012 regular season campaign with a single-season record 130 tackles. He also added on three sacks and five interceptions.
The Truckee, CA native missed one game earlier this season with a knee injury.
