MONTREAL — Montreal Alouettes safety Kyries Hebert is expected to start in the CFL Eastern Final after injuring an ankle this week.

Coach Marc Trestman said Saturday that Hebert looked well enough to be in the lineup against the Toronto Argonauts on Sunday afternoon.

“Our trainer is a conservative guy and he says Kyries is almost 100 per cent, so unless there’s a major change on Sunday we expect he will play,” said Trestman.

The news was a relief for the Alouettes, who have had a run of injuries to their defence this season.

Alouettes saftey Kyries Hebert was dressed but stayed on the sidelines at practice on Thursday, a day after limping off the field with a left ankle sprain.

Canadians Daryl Townsend and Marc-Olivier Brouillette, who is normally a linebacker but who has played safety before, have been working out at safety in Hebert’s absence.
