McCall one of three local products to sign with Riders

REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that non-import defensive lineman Ryan Wellman, non-import defensive back Bryce McCall and non-import wide receiver Kolten Solomon have signed free agent contracts with the team.

Financial details of the agreements were not released.

Wellman joins the Riders after spending three seasons at the University of Regina. During his career with the Rams, the Regina native totaled 81 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks, and three forced fumbles. 

After red-shirting the 2009 season, Wellman played junior football in 2010 with the Vancouver Island Raiders before returning to the Rams for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.     

McCall signed with the Green and White after spending the previous four seasons at the University of Saskatchewan. During his collegiate career, the Regina native played in 33 games, totaling 148 tackles and tying the CIS record for All-Time career interceptions with 21.

In 2010 he was named a Canada West All-Star and First Team All-Canadian.  Prior to joining the Huskies, McCall played two seasons of junior football with the Regina Thunder where he was named a PFC All-Star in 2007 and PFC Rookie of the Year in 2006.      

Solomon is back with the Riders after attending 2012 training camp.  The Regina native spent last season with the University of Regina where he caught 44 passes for 593 yards and five touchdowns in nine games.

After originally joining the Rams for the 2007 season, Solomon spent 2008 with the Vancouver Island Raiders before playing for the Regina Thunder from 2009-2011, where he was twice named a CJFL All-Canadian.
