WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that they have extended the contract of import offensive lineman Glenn January.

“Glenn is an integral part of our offensive line who provides leadership and experience to our young stable of linemen,” said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack.  “We’re happy to have him extend his contract so that we can build upon the consistency we began to establish last season.”

January is coming off his second straight East Division All-Star nomination after manning the left tackle position for 17 games last season.  One of only two returning starters on the offensive line, January helped the Blue Bombers finish fourth in most yards net rushing (1,923) and average yards rushing per game (106.8).  Chad Simpson also became the first running back to rush for over 1,000 yards for the team since 2010.  Originally signing with Winnipeg in 2009, January has appeared in 53 regular season games with the Blue Bombers and was named the team’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman last season.

January entered the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts in 2007 before being traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders the following season.  At Texas Tech, January was named the school’s Lineman of the Year in 2006, as well as to the First-Team All-Big 12 Conference that same year.

A full-time resident of the city, January is very involved in the community throughout the season and offseason.
