EDMONTON — Just over one year since being dealt to Edmonton in the Ricky Ray trade, quarterback Steven Jyles has been released by the Eskimos.

Jyles was traded to Edmonton in December 2011 from Toronto with non-import kicker Grant Shaw and Toronto’s first selection (2nd overall) in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft in exchange for quarterback Ricky Ray.

“Steven is an outstanding professional that did everything asked of him. We really appreciate his professionalism and commitment to the team,” says Eskimos Head Coach Kavis Reed.

In 2012, Jyles dressed for 18 games with nine starts, seeing action in 10 games. He was 129 of 220 (58.6%) for 1,756 yards and six touchdowns and six interceptions. He also picked up 112 yards on 18 rushes. He left game eight with an injury in the first quarter and dressed but did not start the next three games due to injury.
