TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts announced this morning that they have released veteran quarterback Jarious Jackson after one year with the club.

The Notre Dame product joined the Boatmen in February of 2012 –  after leaving the BC Lions – and backed up Ricky Ray while helping lead the Argos to a Grey Cup.

Used primarily in short yardage, Jackson started four games for Toronto last season, passing for 846 yards and 4 touchdowns while completing 72 of 135 throws.  He also rushed 42 times for 122 yards and three majors.

The Argos are poised to go younger in 2013 behind Ricky Ray with both Trevor Harris and Zach Colleros as the early favourites to battle for the #2 and 3 spots on the depth chart.
