REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today non-import long snapper Cory Huclack has re-signed with the team. Financial details of the contract were not released.
Huclack was eligible to enter free agency February 15th before re-signing with the Riders. In 2012, the 28-year old appeared in all 18 regular season games and the West Semi-Final as long snapper and back-up linebacker. He finished the regular season with six special teams tackles and one fumble recovery while adding one special teams tackle in the playoffs.
The Winnipeg, MB native will be entering his seventh CFL season and fourth with the Riders. Huclack entered the league in 2007 with the Montreal Alouettes where he spent three seasons, winning the Grey Cup in 2009.
The Riders also announced they have signed kicker Chris Bodnar. Financial details of the contract were not released.
Bodnar (5’11 – 190) joins the Green and White after spending the last three seasons kicking for the University of Regina. After attending training camp with the Riders last season, he returned to the Rams for his final season of CIS eligibility. Appearing in ten games Bodnar had 79 punts for 3186 yards, a 40.3 yard average. He was named a First Team Canada West All-Star and a Second Team CIS All-Canadian.
In January 2011, he signed with the Edmonton Eskimos but was released in June at which time he returned to the Rams for a stellar season. In seven games he had 66 punts for 2,944 yards and a CIS leading 44.6 yard average. He was also named a CIS First Team All-Canadian.
Prior to joining the Rams Bodnar played for the Saskatoon Hilltops where he was named a CJFL All-Canadian in both 2009 and 2008. In the two years previous to that Bodnar played both football and basketball for the University of Saskatchewan.
