WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today that they have released non-import safety Ian Logan and import quarterback Joey Elliott.

“We would first off like to thank both of these gentlemen for their efforts and dedication to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers,” said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack.  “Difficult decisions in this business are unfortunately part of the job, and we wish the very best to both of these quality individuals.”

Elliott was signed in July of 2010, seeing action in all three seasons since his arrival. In 2012, Elliott appeared in nine games for the Bombers, completing 170 passes for 280 yards with five touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

In Week 8, Elliott had a brilliant game under centre for the Bombers, throwing for a whopping 406 yards against the Tiger-Cats. He nearly duplicated that performance in Week 15 against Montreal, as he led the Bombers to a 27-22 win over the Als, throwing for 335 yards and three touchdowns.

Both outings saw him earn Offensive Player of the Week honours.

Logan, meanwhile, was originally signed as a free agent in early 2006, playing the past seven seasons in Blue and Gold.

In 16 outings in 2012, the Waterloo, ON. native registered 46 tackles, one sack and one interception. He leaves the Bombers with 224 career tackles, four sacks and 12 picks.
