CFL programming earns 11 CSA nominations

TORONTO — The 2014 Canadian Screen Awards were announced yesterday with CFL-related programming receiving 11 nominations for excellence in sports broadcasting.
 
The CFL’s broadcast partner TSN received five nominations for its coverage of the 100th Grey Cup including Best Live Sports Event, Best Direction in a Live Sporting Event, and Best Sports Program or Series for the 100th Grey Cup pre-game show.
 
CFL on TSN’s Glen Suitor and Chris Cuthbert were both  recognized for their work on the 100th Grey Cup with nominations for Best Sports Analyst in a Sports Program or Series and Best Sports Play-by-Play Announcer.
 
TSN and Bell Media’s critically-acclaimed original documentary series, Engraved on a Nation, focusing on how the Grey Cup has become such an intrinsic part of Canadian heritage, received five nominations, including a nomination for Best Documentary Series.

Two Engraved on a Nation documentaries, The 13th Man and Stone Thrower: The Chuck Ealey Story received nods for Best History or Biography Documentary Program or Series
 
Other nominations for Engraved on a Nation include the Barbara Sears Award for Best Visual Research for The Photograph and Best Photography in a Documentary Program or Series for Stone Thrower: The Chuck Ealey Story.

The CFL on TSN’s feature segment on Hank Ilesic was also recognized with a nomination for Best Sports Feature Segment.
