WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Waltersannounced today that the club has re-signed defensive back Alex Suber.

Suber was scheduled to become a free agent next month. As per team policy, details of the agreement are not disclosed.

“Alex is a proven player in this league. He brings an attitude to the field and is a great athlete on both defence and special teams,” said General Manager Kyle Walters.

“He was a player on our free agent list we targeted very early on as a guy we wanted back and the organization is very excited to have him wearing the Bomber uniform for the foreseeable future.”

The 2014 season will be Suber’s fifth in the CFL, all with the Blue and Gold. The Middle Tennessee State product started all 18 games at halfback in 2013, finishing the season fifth on the club with 54 tackles (including four games with six tackles), tied for the team lead with two interceptions, while recording one fumble recovery. He also registered six special teams tackles in 2013.

Through four seasons with Winnipeg, Suber has recorded 226 tackles, 28 special teams tackles, one sack, three interceptions and six fumble recoveries.
