McAdoo and Jackson headline Esks new staff

EDMONTON — Today, Head Coach of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club Chris Jones announced the following members of his 2014 coaching staff:  

Steve McAdoo: Offensive Coordinator
Craig Dickenson: Special Teams Coordinator
Jarious Jackson: Quarterbacks/Passing Game Coordinator/Player Development
Jason Shivers: Defensive Backs
Ed Philion: Defensive Line
Kez McCorvey: Receivers
Craig Davoren: Offensive Assistant
 
Steve McAdoo – Offensive Coordinator

McAdoo brings 14 years of coaching experience – most recently as the offensive line coach for the Toronto Argonauts (2010-13). From 2003-05, he served as the offensive line and running backs coach for the Montreal Alouettes.

The following season he added co-offensive coordinator to his duties. Before entering the Canadian Football League, McAdoo was the offensive line and tight ends coach at Tennessee Tech University (1999-2002) and the tight ends coach at his alma mater Middle Tennessee State University (1996-98).

Prior to coaching, he signed as a free agent offensive lineman with the Cleveland Browns (1993) and spent the following two seasons with the now-defunct CFL Shreveport Pirates.  

Craig Dickenson – Special Teams Coordinator
Dickenson enters his 15th season as a coach and his 11th as a special teams coach. Most recently, he spent the 2013 season as the special teams coordinator for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and two seasons in the same position with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2011-12).

Dickenson also spent seven seasons with the Calgary Stampeders (2002, 2004-09), serving as special teams coordinator for four of those seasons (2006-09).

The former University of Montana kicker/punter was also a special teams assistant for the San Diego Chargers (2001-01) and the running backs coach for the Montreal Alouettes (2003).  

Jarious Jackson – Quarterbacks /Passing Game Coordinator/Player Development
Jackson joins the Green and Gold after spending last season as the quarterbacks coach for the BC Lions. Prior to joining the coaching ranks, the eight-year CFL veteran quarterback spent seven seasons with the BC Lions (2005-11) and was a member of the 2012 Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts.

He also spent three seasons with the NFL’s Denver Broncos (2000, 2002-03) and one season with NFL Europe’s Barcelona Dragons (2001).  

Jason Shivers – Defensive Backs
Shivers entered the coaching ranks in 2013 as a defensive assistant for the Toronto Argonauts. As a player, he spent two seasons with the Argos as a defensive back (2008-09) and two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2010-11), where he was a player-coach during his final season. Shivers also played one season with the Chicago Bears (2004). 
 
Ed Philion – Defensive Line
Philion retired as a player in 2006 after spending eight seasons as a defensive lineman with the Montreal Alouettes (1999-2006), where he earned four consecutive Eastern Division All-Star nods (2003-06). A native of Windsor, ON, Philion spent the 2013 season as the defensive line coach for the Toronto Argonauts.  

Kez McCorvey – Receivers
McCorvey’s coaching experience includes serving as the receivers coach for the Toronto Argonauts (2012), the receivers coach/pass game coordinator/strength and conditioning coach for Bethel University (2011) and head coach at Maclay High School (2009-10).

A former receiver, McCorvey played for the Edmonton Eskimos (2000-01), NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire (1999) and the NFL’s Detroit Lions (1995-97). In 2005, he was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame at his alma mater Florida State University.

Craig Davoren – Offensive Assistant
Davoren joins the Eskimos coaching staff after spending the last two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts as a defensive assistant and as a quality control assistant. The Ontario native played four seasons (1998-2001) with the Burlington Braves of the Canadian Junior Football League before entering the coaching ranks.

He served as the defensive coordinator for the Braves for four seasons (2002-05) and as head coach for five (2006-10). After a stint with the Napoli Brigante as offensive coordinator in 2011, he returned to Canada where he assumed the role of defensive coordinator for Assumption High School in Burlington, ON.
