HAMILTON — The East Division’s Most Outstanding Special Teams Player, non-import linebacker Marc Beswick, has avoided free agency by signing a new deal with the Tiger-Cats, the team announced this morning.  Beswick’s extension runs through the 2016 season.

Beswick, a 6-1, 198-pound native of Vancouver, British Columbia, led the CFL with 24 special teams tackles last season while adding a forced fumble and a touchdown scored on a fake field goal. The six-year veteran has been the Ticats special teams tackle leader in each of the last four seasons. He was named an East Division All-Star in 2013.

The Saint Mary’s product originally signed with the Ticats as a free agent on June 27, 2009 after one season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
