WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today that recently acquired defensive back Korey Banks has signed an extension with the Blue and Gold, keeping him in a Bomber uniform through 2015.

Banks is a 10-year CFL veteran, spending the last eight seasons with the B.C. Lions. He has been a CFL all-star five times, a division all-star eight times and has nabbed 37 interceptions in his career – including 27 as an eight-year starter with the B.C. Lions.

Banks was acquired January 31, 2014, in a trade with the BC Lions that saw non-import receiver Kito Poblah head to BC.

“Korey adds an immediate presence in our locker room, veteran leadership both on and off the field, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Bomber organization,” said Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters on the acquisition of Banks.

The 2013 season saw Banks conclude with 46 tackles, three special teams tackles, one sack, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. A two-time Grey Cup winner, Banks has played in 163 regular season games, ten playoff games and two Grey Cups.
