OTTAWA — Veteran kicker Justin Palardy has joined the Ottawa REDBLACKS.
The 25-year-old graduate of the Saint Mary’s Huskies and native of Truro, N.S. arrives in Ottawa after spending the last four seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and part of his rookie year with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Last season, Palardy connected on nine of 12 field goal attempts with the Blue Bombers.
In 2012, Palardy equaled a Winnipeg franchise record for field goal percentage, hitting on 39 of 45 attempts (86.7 per cent).
His longest career field goal is a 51-yarder he booted in 2010, his rookie CFL season.
Palardy played four seasons at Saint Mary’s and was a regular all-star in the Atlantic University Athletics (AUA) conference. He had 65 career field goals from 2006-2009 for the Huskies, including 23 during his final season, one which included 96 points.
Also today, the REDBLACKS added wide receiver Paul de Pass, an Ajax native who played his 5th collegiate season with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
de Pass started eight games with the Varsity Blues in 2013, leading the team and ranking third in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) with 53 catches and six touchdowns. He gained 970 yards on those receptions, setting a U of T record.
