Bombers make final cuts, Hall among 11 released

CFL.ca Staff

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced their final roster cuts, with former starting QB Max Hall headlining the group.

After the team acquired QB Drew Willy in the off-season to be their new number one pivot, Hall entered training camp looking to cement himself as Winnipeg’s second-stringer.

Instead, it appears as though his spot on the depth chart was overtaken by Brian Brohm and Robert Marve. In two pre-season games, Hall completed six of his 14 passes for 53 yards and one interception.

Last season saw the BYU grad complete 162 of his 283 passes for 1,999 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He was the only Bombers QB from the team’s 2013 roster to be invited back for 2014.

Also released by the Bombers were international receivers Mario Urrutia, Mark Dell, Jaymar Johnson, and Bert Reed, international defensive backs Stephon Morris, Michael Ray Garvin, and Matt Pierce, international defensive lineman Willie Moseley, international offensive lineman Jesse peterson, and national receiver Taylor Renaud.

The Bombers will announce their practice roster on Sunday. All teams will close out the pre-season on Friday before having to make final cuts by Saturday, June 21 at 10:00pm ET.
