TORONTO –- Jon Cornish, Ricky Foley and Troy Stoudermire were named the Canadian Football League Players of the Week for Week 10 of the 2014 Canadian Football League season.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges including: former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish was named the Offensive and Canadian Player of the Week for Week 10. Cornish rushed for a season-high 163 yards and added a touchdown in the Stampeders’ 28-13 win over the second place Eskimos. The former University of Kansas Jayhawk’s productive Labour Day performance also garnered him Canadian Player of the Week honours.

Cornish also punched in a three-yard touchdown in the final quarter to give the Stampeders a two possession advantage.

Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive end Ricky Foley was named the Defensive Player of the Week for Week 10. Foley notched a pair of sacks, added a tackle, and forced and recovered a fumble to spur the Riders to their sixth straight victory.

Foley not only powered his way to Drew Willy for the sack, but also stripped the ball from the Bombers’ quarterback, resulting in the Riders’ forcing a turnover early in the second half. The Courtice, Ontario native’s big defensive play set the stage for Anthony Allen’s touchdown seven plays later which extended the Riders’ lead to 21-7.

The product of York University is currently tied for fourth in the league in sacks with seven and is on pace to surpass his single-season career-high of 12 set in the 2009 campaign.

This is Foley’s second Defensive Player of the Week honour this season with his first coming in Week 1.
