REGINA — Darian Durant’s 2014 season appears to be officially over.
Tuesday morning, the Roughriders quarterback tweeted that he is scheduled for surgery later this week, and will likely miss the remainder of the 2014 season.
The team then confirmed the news in a release moments later.
“Realistically his regular season is probably done,” said general manager Brendan Taman. “Whether or not we can get him back for the playoffs, we’ll see. It’s not the greatest of outlooks.”
Durant, who was injured in the third quarter of the 2014 Banjo Bowl, travelled back to Regina with the team following the game where he received thorough medical assessment. Tests have revealed Durant suffered a torn tendon in his right elbow that will require surgery.
As a result, the 32-year-old has been added to the teams 6 game injury list and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
First off I would like to thank the fans for their kind words and prayers…I also would like to thank everyone in the CFL who reached out
