TORONTO – Even though the CFL Draft has come and gone there is still new Canadian talent hoping their name will be called.

The CFL Supplemental Draft features a much smaller draft pool to choose from because of its nature. Players who were not declared Nationals in time for the CFL Draft now fall to the supplemental selection process.

The draft is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. and two defensive backs, Garrett Waggoner and Jarret Chapman, are the players available.

Read more on the CFL Supplemental Draft and the players available.

  • Since 1976, there have been 25 players selected in the supplement draft, including six since 2010.
  • Receiver Kito Poblah is entering his fifth season in the CFL after the Bombers sacrificed a future first round pick to choose him. Now with BC, Poblah scored a touchdown for the Lions last year. Another member of the Lions who was also a supplemental draft pick, Alex Hoffman-Ellis, made eight tackles for the club.
  • Johnny Forzani spent three seasons in Calgary while Zac Carlson had time in the CFL over two years.
  • Eskimos safety Mike Dubuisson was the only player selected in 2014 and recorded an interception for the club last campaign.
  • Perhaps the most notable of the recent supplement draft choices is defensive lineman Ted Laurent. The East Division’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2014 recorded a career-high nine sacks last season. He was picked in the second round by Edmonton in 2011 and signed with Hamilton last year.
  • Other notable players chosen in the Supplemental Draft include offensive lineman Jeremy O’Day, kicker Noel Prefontaine and receiver Paul Pearson. O’Day was picked by the Argos in 1997 and played 238 games over 14 CFL seasons, all but two with the Roughriders.
  • Prefontaine, also drafted by Toronto, is 12th on the CFL’s all-time scoring list. He is a two-time Grey Cup winner and a six-time CFL all-star. Despite brief forays into the NFL and even the XFL, Prefontaine always found the most success in the CFL.
  • Even further back into history is Pearson, who was drafted by Calgary in 1978. He recorded 424 receptions totaling more than 5,000 receiving yards in 147 games.
