WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have made another big free agent splash, announcing Tuesday afternoon the addition of Ryan Smith.
Smith emerged as one of the bright, young up-and-coming receivers in the league last season, recording 991 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games. One of the lone bright spots on a Riders team that won only three games, the 24-year-old quickly became a fan favourite in Riderville.
He joins a re-tooled Bomber offence that GM Kyle Walters has been busy upgrading this off-season, from receiver Weston Dressler to running back Andrew Harris. What Smith lacks in size with his 5-foot-7, 175-pound frame, he more than makes up for with quickness and his ability to catch the football and ultimately make big plays.
