EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have added some veteran competition to their defensive backfield this training camp, signing free agent cornerback Cord Parks.

Parks, a 29-year-old native of Decatur, Ga., spent the last three seasons with the BC Lions where he recorded 140 tackles, seven special team tackles and eight interceptions. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound Northeastern graduate started 44 of the 45 games he played in on the west coast.

The move adds more competition for the Esks at a position that was hit hard in free agency, particularly with the losses of Aaron Grymes (NFL), Otha Foster (Saskatchewan Roughriders) and Ryan Hinds (Ottawa REDBLACKS).

In his last season with BC, Parks started in nine games at corner for the Lions and registered 22 tackles and one interception.

The Eskimos open training camp on Sunday with back to back morning sessions, the first one starting at 10:30 a.m. ET.
