Bo Levi Mitchell led his Stampeders to another victory last week, improving Calgary’s record to 5-1-1 on the season. The victory was the Stamps’ second in as many weeks over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Mitchell will have his work cut out for him next week when the Stamps take on the tough BC Lions’ defence.

Coming off their Week 8 bye, the Ottawa REDBLACKS remain in the same position. Henry Burris has been confirmed as the starter for the REDBLACKS in Week 9, who will be fighting to stay on top of the East and improve their record to 5-2-1.

It’s the Manny Show in BC right now. Two touchdowns – and some sweet dance moves – from Emmanuel Arceneaux led the Lions over the Tiger-Cats last week. The Lions sit just one point back from the Stampeders in the West, who they will battle with this week for the top spot.

Has Matt Nichols turned things around in Winnipeg? It sure looks that way after Nichols led his Bombers to their third straight win in Toronto last week. It wasn’t just the offence that helped the club get back to .500 – the defence picked off Argos pivot Logan Kilgore five times, including one that was returned for a touchdown, adding to their league-leading 14 interceptions.

The losing streak is finally over for the reigning Grey Cup Champions. The Eskimos snapped their three-game losing streak this week with a win over the Montreal Alouettes. The duo of Derel Walker and Adarius Bowman continue to be quarterback Mike Reilly’s favourite targets with both of them collecting 100-plus yards in the contest.

Zach is back. While the return of quarterback Zach Collaros was spoiled by a loss to the BC Lions, there were still glimpses of the team the Ticats were before Collaros was injured. The fans in Hamilton will get to see Collaros for the first time in black and gold this season when they take on the Roughriders at Tim Hortons Field this week.

When a team is missing its star quarterback there are bound to be some hiccups. Last week, it was the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defence that disrupted Logan Kilgore, intercepting the quarterback five times. Despite the loss, the Argos still sit just one point behind the REDBLACKS for first in the East.

The Montreal Alouettes were handed another loss last week, this time from the Edmonton Eskimos. Kevin Glenn and his Als will hope to nab their third win of the season this week when they visit Ottawa for a meeting with the REDBLACKS.

Things don’t seem to be getting any better for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2016. They were handed another loss from the Calgary Stampeders, keeping them in the basement of the league at 1-6. This week, the Riders head to Hamilton to take on the Tiger-Cats hoping to turn their season around.
