TORONTO — Another week, another Calgary Stampeder victory.
The Stampeders haven’t lost a contest since Week 1 and hold the CFL’s best record of 6-1-1. In what was called the game of two heavyweights, Calgary dominated the BC Lions on route to a 37-9 victory, solidifying their place at the top of the Nissan Titan Power Rankings for the fourth week in a row.
The Tiger-Cats moved into the top three after their commanding victory over the Roughriders but will they continue their rise? Meanwhile, despite their loss, the Lions also moved up after their Week 9 performance.

It was a clash of the two best in the West, but only one team came out on top. The Stamps solidified their place as the best team in the CFL, while extending their winning streak to five, after their win over the BC Lions. Not only did Bo Levi Mitchell and his offence lead the team to victory, but Calgary’s defence shut out the Lions completely in the second half and didn’t allow BC to score a single major throughout the entire contest.

Despite their loss against Calgary, the Lions remain one of the top teams in the West. With receivers like Shawn Gore, Bryan Burnham and Emmanuel Arceneaux and not to mention running backs Chris Rainey and Jeremiah Johnson at quarterback Jonathon Jennings’ disposal, BC is a threat to any defence they have to face. The Lions will head to Ottawa hoping to get back to their winning ways.

What rust? Zach Collaros silenced anyone who questioned whether sitting on the sidelines for 11 months would affect the franchise pivot by throwing five touchdown passes and completing 76.7 per cent of his passes for 381 yards – the most productive offensive showing of his young career. Five different Tiger-Cat receivers found their way into the end zone – Terrence Toliver, Andy Fantuz, Brandon Banks, Chad Owens (2) and Luke Tasker. And if that wasn’t enough, Hamilton’s defence intercepted Riders’ quarterback Darian Durant four times in the contest.

Coming off their Week 9 bye, the Blue Bombers remain in the same position. Before their week of rest, the Bombers were riding a three-game winning streak with quarterback Matt Nichols leading the offence. Hoping to continue their winning ways, and remain in a playoff position, Winnipeg heads to Montreal for a tussle with the Alouettes.

It’s now Trevor Harris’ offence. The REDBLACKS announced that Harris will be making his return to the huddle this week hoping to provide a spark for Ottawa. After losing three of their last four contests, the REDBLACKS look to the pivot who led them to having one of the most dangerous offences in the league earlier in the season. With the Tiger-Cats close on their heels, Ottawa needs to turn things around, and quickly, if they want to stay atop the East.

A three headed monster has been spotted and it’s living in Edmonton. The trio of quarterback Mike Reilly and receivers Adarius Bowman and Derel Walker showed exactly why they are leading one of the most electrifying offences in the CFL when they paid a visit to Toronto last week. Reilly threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns while Bowman and Walker both hauled in a touchdown a piece and 123 yards combined.

After starting on their game against the Esks on a high – Keon Raymond intercepted Mike Reilly on the pivot’s first pass attempt of the afternoon – the Argos defence was no match for the stellar Edmonton offence. Toronto will hope Ricky Ray will be healthy and ready to return to the field soon to keep the club from slipping to 4-5 on the season.

The Montreal offence has come alive. Led by Kevin Glenn and his five touchdown passes, the Alouettes pulled themselves within three points of the first place REDBLACKS in the East with their 43-19 victory over Ottawa. Duron Carter hauled in 126 yards receiving and two touchdowns and Nik Lewis caught eight passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. The Als host the Blue Bombers this week, looking to keep their offence rolling.

The struggle continues for the Roughriders. Saskatchewan still has just a single win on the season after their disappointing loss to the Tiger-Cats last week. The Riders sit at 1-7 and will head to Edmonton to take on the Eskimos this week hoping to find a way to turn their season around.
