O’Shea heaps praise on Flanders following impressive outing

WINNIPEG — If you didn’t know who Timothy Flanders was prior to Saturday afternoon, who could blame you?

Prior to getting the call in Winnipeg’s backfield in relief of the injured Andrew Harris, the five-foot-nine, 209 lbs. tailback had just three carries to his name, and those came in Week 20 of last season while he was a member of the BC Lions.

But after the way he manhandled the Argos defence, we’re willing to bet Flanders will start getting a bit more recognition in the CFL world.

“That’s why he’s here,” said Blue Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea.

“I can’t say enough about Timothy Flanders. He does all this scout team work on special teams, and he pays such close attention to what the opponent is doing. Those are the little things the coach notices, and that is awesome.”

“I’m very happy for Timothy Flanders.”

After all was said and done, Flanders picked up 102 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. He also added 34 yards on four receptions.

“He got his opportunity and he did great with it,” added O’Shea.
