The Canadian Press

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Monday the team has acquired national defensive back Shane Herbert from the Saskatchewan Roughriders in exchange for the rights to a player on the team’s negotiation list.

Herbert suited up in seven games with the Riders this season, collecting four defensive tackles and two pass knock downs.

After spending three seasons with the Toronto Argonauts (2013-2015), the 27-year-old, Ajax, Ont. native signed with the Riders in June.

The six-foot-two, 190-pound Wilfrid Laurier product started nine games as a senior, recording 18 defensive tackles and three interceptions and also took part in the 2010 CIS East-West Bowl.

Hamilton faces Herbert’s former team in Week 14 when the Tabbies take a trip west to Saskatchewan.
