CFL Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Week 14

Johany Jutras/CFL.ca

TORONTO — What could be better than two of the league’s hottest teams, each riding impressive winning streaks, clashing on a Saturday afternoon?

The Stampeders meet with the Blue Bombers – two teams that hold the longest combined winning streak in CFL history (16) – in Week 14 and all eyes will be on the West Division foes.

Bo Levi Mitchell has helped to lead his club to the top of the West while clinching a playoff spot along the way. Calgary also hasn’t lost a game since Week 1 and has won their last nine matchups.

The Bombers, meanwhile, are cruising with seven-straight victories. Since making the switch at quarterback to Matt Nichols, the club turned their 1-4 season around, improving to 8-4 and shuffling into the playoff mix.

Winnipeg’s last loss? Against the Stampeders back in Week 5.

Mitchell will only hope to beat Nichols – his friend off the field, but enemy on – to add to his team’s impressive 2016 season.

Can the Bombers take down the league’s best team? Or will the Stampeders snap Winnipeg’s streak? All these questions and more in this week’s CFL Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup.

A clash between two teams on streaks means something has to give for one of them. Will it be the Calgary Stampeders or the Winnipeg Blue Bombers whose winning streak comes to a hault?

The majority of fans – 81 percent – believe the Stamps will improve to 11-1-1 on Saturday. Don’t count the Blue Bombers out though. They have an offence, led by the steady hand of Nichols – who has only thrown one interception since taking over under centre – and a defence that can shut down their opponents night after night.

While some fans are considering an upset picking the Bombers to take down the stellar Stampeders, the CFL.ca writers are not so convinced. All writers chose Calgary to improve their record – and why not, they’ve been lights out all season and own a 6-0 record at home.
