CFL Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup: Week 15

Johany Jutras/CFL.ca

TORONTO — Things could be about to get interesting in the West Division playoff race.

Lately, the most exciting race has been that for second place in the West as the Bombers and Lions, tied in the standings with 16 points each, duel for a home playoff game come November. The Eskimos, meanwhile, have lagged behind — within eyesight but not close enough to strike.

A win on Friday Night Football on the road at Winnipeg would pull the Esks within two points of the third-place Bombers and also secure the season series against their Manitoba counterpart.

In short, this all-West Week 15 clash is the biggest of the season to this point for these rival foes.

The Bombers look to get back to their winning ways after having their seven-game winning streak snapped by Calgary (Is there such a thing as a moral victory?), while Edmonton looks to build on a critical home win over the Lions last weekend.

In a CFL Pick ‘Em Marquee Matchup that takes centre stage, who will come out on top and win the rubber match?

Mike Reilly leads the CFL’s most explosive and productive offence, but he and league-leading receivers Adarius Bowman and Derel Walker will have their work cut out for them against the league’s most opportunistic defence. The Esks can score quickly but no faster than the Bombers, the league’s leaders in takeaways this season, can steal the football away and change the course of a game.

Almost three quarters of fans have the Bombers rebounding from their first loss in eight games, as Matt Nichols and the Blue and Gold look to make some space below them and also bear down on second place in the West.

The fans see it as a one-sided affair but the writers aren’t as convinced. Friday night’s matchup on paper offers plenty of intrigue and two teams loaded on talent, but will home advantage make the difference for the Bombers, the league’s second-hottest team coming in?
