TORONTO – A day after he left practice and was considered questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Montreal Alouettes, Drew Willy took first-team reps for the Argos at Friday’s practice.
The news is positive for the Boatmen, making it likely that the recently-acquired quarterback will make his first start as an Argo this weekend, although a definitive answer won’t be had until Sunday morning.
In the event Willy can’t play, Dan LeFevour is expected to get the call as the Argos enter a pivotal Week 15 East Division clash with the Als.
The Argos confirmed earlier in the week that Willy would make his first start with Toronto since being acquired on Sept. 11 in a trade with Winnipeg, but Thursday’s happenings briefly put that on hold. According to Chris O’Leary of the Toronto Star, Willy departed practice early on Thursday with an injury that Milanovich said was “nothing serious.” Milanovich told O’Leary and a group of reporters that Willy “got a little knick.”
Willy told O’Leary he hit his hand on someone’s helmet, leading to some minor discomfort:

The change at quarterback comes following three straight starts by LeFevour, who went 1-2 while throwing for 672 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions in place of the injured Ricky Ray.
Willy was acquired on the same day LeFevour made a strong debut in a win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, serving as the backup quarterback during losses to Winnipeg and Ottawa.
The former Winnipeg Blue Bomber and Saskatchewan Roughrider made his Argos debut in a 29-12 loss to the Ottawa REDBLACKS in Week 14, throwing for 153 yards and a touchdown on 16-of-24 passing after starting the second half in place of LeFevour.
