Burris regains starting spot; Williams done for the year

The Canadian Press

OTTAWA — The Ottawa REDBLACKS will once again turn to Henry Burris to lead their club as the playoff race in the East continues.  Last season’s MOP was named the starter Monday after coming off the bench to relieve Trevor Harris.

Burris was 9 of 16 for 138 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception in Ottawa’s overtime loss on Friday.

Harris was given the keys to the REDBLACKS offence in August and despite putting points on the board was unable to take a firm grasp on the role after signing as a free agent in the off-season.

Burris will lead the REDBLACKS in a battle for first place against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Friday night at Tim Hortons Field.

If Burris and the REDBLACKS hope to make a run to the Grey Cup in Toronto, they will have to do so without arguably their most dangerous offensive weapon.

Receiver and kick returner Chris Williams will miss the remainder of the 2016 season with a torn ACL.

The speedy wideout had 1246 yards and 10 touchdowns on 77 receptions this season.
