Playoff Scenarios: Eastern matchups could bring clarity

TORONTO — The Shaw Road to the Grey Cup continues with an East Division that could get a bit more clear this weekend. Both the BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers locked up a playoff spot based on Monday’s results but where they will seed is yet to be determined.

As for the East … it is still wide open despite some sputtering along the way.

Here is how everything shakes down heading into Week 17:

  • Montreal Loss + Toronto Loss = Edmonton clinches a Playoff Berth
  • Ottawa Win + Losses by Montreal AND Toronto = Ottawa clinches a Playoff Berth and a home playoff date.
  • Hamilton Win + Losses by Montreal AND Toronto = Hamilton clinches a Playoff Berth and a home playoff date via a tie-breaker based on record among games played against potentially tied clubs
