EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have signed offensive lineman Justin Sorensen to a two-year contract extension, keeping him in Green and Gold throughout the 2018 season.
Sorensen signed with Edmonton as a free agent in February 2014. An integral member of the Esks offensive line, he played at centre in 45 regular season games (42 starts) and six playoff games, including the 2015 Grey Cup championship victory.
The 6-foot-8 South Carolina product entered the league in 2008 as a first round selection by the BC Lions in the CFL Draft. In 2011, he signed with Winnipeg where he played for three seasons, primarily at centre. Sorensen has amassed 116 career games.
He was the Eskimos’ nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman this season.
While Sorensen was not slated to become a free agent, the move comes as a number of Eskimos get prepared to hit the open market on Feb. 14. The CFL revealed its list of pending free agents on Thursday.
