Report: Corey Chamblin to coach Argos’ defence

TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts are set to name Corey Chamblin their next defensive coordinator, Sportsnet‘s Arash Madani reports.

Chamblin coached the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a Grey Cup Championship in 2013 before being dismissed part way through the 2015 season. He has not coached in the CFL since.

The move comes as Head Coach Marc Trestman looks to assemble his staff after being hired on Feb. 28. Trestman joins incoming general manager Jim Popp, who forms the duo tasked with turning around the Argos.

Chamblin’s hiring would mean the Argos will move forward without current defensive coordinator Rich Stubler, who returned to the team in 2016.
