WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed international defensive tackle Corvey Irvin, the team announced Monday.

Irvin, a 6-foot-2, 295-pound Georgia Bulldogs alum, spent last season with Saskatchewan, starting all 18 games, recording 27 defensive tackles and five sacks.

He came into the league in 2015 with Montreal, playing in 13 games and registering 11 defensive tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble.

Originally selected by the NFL’s Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2009 draft (29th overall), Irvin spent parts of five seasons south of the border. He played 24 games during that span, spending time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions.
