Esks sign OL Colin Kelly; release four others

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos have signed international offensive lineman Colin Kelly, the team announced Tuesday.

A graduate of Oregon State University, Kelly spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons in Ottawa where he started 28 games for the REDBLACKS, including the Eastern Final and the 103rd Grey Cup.

The 6-foot-5, 298-pounder also spent time with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Edmonton also announced the release of international linebacker Alex Hoffman-Ellis, international defensive end Jabari Hunt, international linebacker Donnie Baggs and national defensive back Mike Dubuisson.

Hoffman-Ellis joined the green and gold in July last season in a trade with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and played in five games, collecting seven defensive tackles and four special teams tackles. He entered the league in 2014 with the BC Lions. In 18 games (11 starts), he recorded 65 defensive tackles, 10 special teams tackles and three interceptions.

Hunt joined the Eskimos as a free agent in 2016, and played in 11 games, collecting 14 defensive tackles and one sack while Baggs suited up in 12 games last season and nabbed four defensive tackles and 12 special teams tackles.

Dubuisson played three seasons in Edmonton (2014, 2015 and 2016) and collected four defensive tackles and 14 special teams tackles in 53 games with the Eskimos.
