MONTREAL -Cornerback Davis Sanchez re-signed with the Montreal Alouettes on Tuesday.
Sanchez signed a one-year deal, plus an option, the CFL club announced.
The 34-year-old Vancouver native was an East Division all-star for the third time in his eight-year CFL career this season, when he led the team with three interceptions.
"Over the past decade, Davis has redefined the cornerback position and has been a key ratio-changer for the teams he has played with," Montreal general manager Jim Popp said in a statement.
The Alouettes selected Sanchez in the first round of the '99 CFL Canadian college draft. He left to play two seasons with the NFL's San Diego Chargers in 2001 and 2002, then signed for one year with Calgary. He returned to Montreal in 2004, left for Edmonton the following season, then returned to the Alouettes in 2006.
Sanchez is the latest veteran to re-sign with Montreal, joining the likes of slotback Ben Cahoon, centre Bryan Chiu and defensive lineman Anwar Stewart. Quarterback Anthony Calvillo, the CFL's outstanding player this year, and guard Scott Flory, the league's top lineman, are among those who've still not re-signed with the club.
