MONTREAL -- Larry Taylor is going back to Montreal.

Tuesday, the Calgary Stampeders completed a trade with the Montreal Alouettes, acquiring a fifth-round pick (40th overall) in the 2014 CFL Draft in exchange for the import kick returner and a 2014 fifth-round pick (43rd overall).

The deal also includes conditional 2015 draft picks.

“We appreciate everything that Larry has done for us over the past three seasons and wish him the best in Montreal,” said Stampeders general manager John Hufnagel.

Taylor who also lines up as a receiver, began his professional career with the Alouettes in 2008, earning the CFL's Special Teams Player of the Year Award the following season. He finished the 2009 season with 1,971 combined yards, the most in the CFL, while also scoring three touchdowns.

"We welcome Larry back into the nest. Having obtained another one of our originals and one of the most exciting players in the CFL gives us great competition and depth at the WR and Returner positions," said Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp.

In 44 regular-season games with Calgary over the past three seasons, Taylor accumulated 3,055 kickoff-return yards, 1,637 punt-return yards and 659 missed-field goal-return yards. He added 39 catches for 321 yards and four touchdowns and 18 carries for 93 yards.

so much for GM popp being upset with the hiring of HC higgins as he pulls off a stout trade costing nothing with hufnagel who needed room to sign sanders away from the green!!

Agree. Enough rants and cries of outrage from the Montreal media! Lets get on with the season. The Popp-Higgins association should work well.

Als got Taylor for a whopping three draft spots. So basically, with this being a weak draft year, he is free. I realize Hufnagel needed space for Saunders, but to get nothing in return seems a little pointless.

@M: actually montreal received LT and a (43rd)2014 and a conditional '15(3rd round)draft choice!! while calgary receives a (40th)2014 and a conditional (3rd round)'15 draft choice!! so seems pretty even for both teams!!
