EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Eskimos and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area announced today that All-Star Eskimo receiver Kamau Peterson will become the new honorary chairman for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area Foundation.

“It’s truly an honour and a privilege to have the opportunity to represent the Eskimos in working with an organization like the Big Brothers Big Sisters,” says Peterson. “I know from personal experience through years of teaching how little effort it can take to completely alter the course of a child. I would encourage everyone to get involved with our youth and it will be my pleasure to help Big Brothers Big Sisters in any way that I am able.”

Kamau will work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area to encourage citizens to get involved in mentoring children to help promote healthy growth in the community.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area is excited to begin working with the Edmonton Eskimos and Kamau Peterson,” says Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Liz O’Neill. “Kamau understands the power of mentoring and is a success today because of his mentors. Children in our communities need the support of mentors more than ever before.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a community based mentoring organization in Edmonton and surrounding areas that matches volunteer mentors to children who need a friend. Since it’s inception in 1972 the organization has served over 10,000 children in Edmonton and Area.
