TORONTO -- Marcus Ball's days as a Toronto Argonaut appear to be over for now. Monday, the team announced the release of the 26-year-old linebacker.
Ball will reportedly attempt to try his luck in the NFL. The University of Memphis product first arrived in Toronto in 2012.
He leaves with 142 tackles, seven sacks, four interceptions and two career touchdowns under his belt. The transaction comes less than a week after Shea Emry signed with the Boatmen as a free agent.
Ball was widely considered to be Toronto's most productive defensive player over the last two seasons.
It's been a trying off-season for the Boatmen on the defensive side of the ball. Gone are recognizable names like defensive coordinator Chris Jones, defensive back Patrick Watkins and linebacker Robert McCune.
