WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added some size to their offensive line today, but also released import defensive end Fred Perry.
“Fred’s a quality individual and we appreciate his efforts with our club in 2009. We wish him the very best moving forward,” said head coach Paul LaPolice.
The Bombers beefed up their O-line with the signing of import offensive lineman Kelly Butler. As per team policy, details of the agreement are not disclosed. Butler joins the Blue and Gold with more than 20 games of starters experience in the NFL.
The 6'8" 350-pound Butler was drafted in the 6th round, 172nd overall, in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He started 15 games for the Lions at Right Tackle in 2005. He also spent time with the Cleveland Browns in 2006.
Butler has spent the past two seasons with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of the Arena Football League.
“We are very pleased to add an NFL-experienced lineman to our roster,” added LaPolice.
