WINNIPEG -- Justin Goltz's days with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are over.

Monday, the team announced the release of the 26-year-old quarterback, while also announcing the acquisition of fellow QB Brian Brohm in a trade with the Tiger-Cats.

In exchange, the Ticats will receive a conditional selection in the 2015 CFL Draft.

Goltz leaves Winnipeg after spending four seasons with the Blue and Gold, completing 88-of-160 passes for 961 yards with three TDs and seven interceptions.

Brohm, meanwhile, joined the Ticats prior to last year's mini-camp after spending time in both the NFL and UFL. He played collegiately at Louisville (2004-2007) and finished as the school's second-leading passer with 10,775 yards.

The Louisville, KY native appeared in one exhibition game last year for Hamilton before spending the entire season on the injured list.

Brohm will likely compete with Alex Hall for the backup position in Winnipeg, as Drew Willy has already been named the team's starter heading into training camp.

Brohm will likely compete with Alex Hall? LOL Trying to sack himself? Think you mean Max Hall.

This comes as no surprise as to his immaturity, when he has to resort to mimicking other players celebrations. Won't be missed by anybody!

What amazes me is that they wasted over 3 years keeping this guy around before they finally figured out that he wasn't good enough. Similarly with Alex Brink, Joey Elliott, and before that, Ryan Dinwiddie.

Bombers have very little to lose by this trade and everything to gain by it.
Brohm was picked early in the draft by the Packers so there has to be some real talent there that Danny Mac and Co. see.

I don't know if Hamilton's QB situation is ready to go into camp yet. Collaros is likely the starter but he is pretty young still. Ti-cats should try to get a veteran (i.e. Kevin Glenn) to backup Collaros and help in his development.

Good.

He can go straighten out his imaginary tie somewhere else. Goltz was not going to be part of the solution in moving the Bummers forward. Good move by that club.

Well that answers one question about what Austin was planning to do with all of the QBs on the roster! Saw very little of him but he will have at least learned a few things about the QB role in the CFL from Austin. Good luck!
